Sovereign # 2

The Lord said to me…”I will test my people with a Plumbline, Amos 7:8 (TLB)
The Plumbline is a blog to bring hope and encourage to the Body of Christ.

Sovereign # 2

The Sovereignty of God: Sovereign. Having supreme authority and rule. God’s sovereignty includes his right to choose according to His own nature and will.[1]

Psalms 47:8 (NKJV) God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne. Isaiah 40:8 (NKJV) The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever." Isaiah 25:8 (KJV) He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people sha will be removed and never ll he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

Ten judgments were poured out on the Egyptians. These judgments, commonly called plagues, may be grouped in three units of three plagues each, with a 10th culminating in judgment. The 1st, 4th, and 7th judgments, at the beginning of each cycle of three, are introduced by the words, “in the morning” (7:15; 8:20; 9:13). The 1st three (blood, frogs, and gnats) were loathsome; the 2nd three were bothersome (flies) or painful (death of livestock and boils on people and animals); and the 3rd three were “natural” plagues (hail, locusts, darkness). The 3rd plague ends with the defeat of the magicians (8:19), the 6th with their inability to stand before Moses (9:11), and the 9th with the separation of Moses and Pharaoh (10:28).[2]

In God’s future kingdom all sorrow, misery and death that prevail on the earth reappear. God himself will wipe all tears from the eyes of his children and there will never again be a reason for tears and grief. These glorious blessings will occur only when Christ returns to earth and triumphs over evil and will reigns over all creation.

Such promises should lead us to see the Lord’s great love and compassion for us and cause us ro pray earnestly and ceaselessly for the glorious consummation of redemption through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Revelation 22:17,20 (NKJV) 17 And the Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely. 20 He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
