If Tomorrow Never Comes

The Lord said to me…”I will test my people with a Plumbline, Amos 7:8 (TLB)
The Plumbline is a blog to encourage the Body of Christ.

If Tomorrow Never Comes

Look to the Word of God
"If Tomorrow Never Comes" is a song recorded by American country music artist Garth Brooks. It was released on his 1989 debut album Garth Brooks and also appears on The Hits, This was his first #1 single on the Billboard Country Singles chart. It is also sometimes referred to as his signature song. "If Tomorrow Never Comes" was named Favorite Country Single in the American Music Awards of 1991. It has subsequently become one of Brooks' most popular songs for other artists to perform. One of the lines in his song was “if tomorrow never comes, will she know that I love her?”

I am certain you have heard the slogan, “Tomorrow Never Comes”. Someone has written, “When the day arrives that you are now calling "tomorrow," you will call that day "today" and a different day will be called "tomorrow."  In other words, “Tomorrow never comes”.

MAN’S BOASTING: Solomon knew something about this word “tomorrow”, consider; Proverbs 27:1 (MSG) Don't brashly announce what you're going to do tomorrow; you don't know the first thing about tomorrow. Man in his pursuit of self-exaltation and his tendency of bragging about his plans for tomorrow and the future are unsafe expectations.  The Bible has a lot to say about this subject. Remember Peter in conversation with Jesus said, even if others stumble because of you.  Peter said “NOT ME”. But look what really happened. Matthew 26:33-34 (NKJV) Peter answered and said to Him, "Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble."  Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." Peter demonstrates for us the nature and result of one’s boasting.

THE FUTURE: In spite of man’s education, and his supposed knowledge about most subjects we also know that his insight into the future is greatly limited. Jesus addresses this problem in a teaching with His disciples. Matthew 25:13 (NKJV) Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. The Apostle Paul expresses a marvelous truth to the Corinthian Assembly. 1 Corinthians 13:12 (NKJV) For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known. We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us! (Adapted from the Message).”

May the Lord help us to avoid the pitfalls of trying to make tomorrow that it could ever be!
