A WORD FOR DADS #2

The Lord said to me,.."I will test my people with a plumbline. Amos 7:8 (TLB)
The Plumbline is a blog to encourage the Body of Christ.

A WORD FOR DADS #2

In the previous article we discussed the importance to TEACH and to PROVIDE. Today we’ll finish “A Word for Dads”.

Third; TO NURTURE: A. One who nurtures or fosters, educates. The nurturer is one who creates an environment that conditions and influences. Ephes.6:4 And now a word to you parents. Don't keep on scolding and nagging your children, making them angry and resentful. Rather, bring them up with the loving discipline the Lord himself approves, with suggestions and godly advice. (TLB) In other words, fathers don't irritate and provoke their children to anger. If you do you'll exasperate them to resentment. What are we saying? Create the kind of atmosphere that produces loving discipline with godly advice.

Fourth;TO CONTROL: 1 Tim. 3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (KJV) 1 Tim. 3:4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. (TLB)  This is one of many prerequisites for a man to qualify as a Bishop or a pastor.  A similar statement is made regarding a deacon’s children as well.. (V: 12) 1 Tim. 3:12 A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. (TLB) A well balanced family who obey quickly and quietly. You begin this work early in their lives. When their little, little tots. You need to manage your home consistently the old time-worn cliche "Do as I say and not as I do..." will not produce well ordered homes. Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, They must be made to do what is right.

Fifth; TO LOVE: Titus 2:4 These older women must train the younger women to live quietly, to love their husbands and their children, Our educational program in the home must have its origin in Biblical principles. Deut.6:5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. (NIV)  This is your Responsibility Love the LORD. Study the WORD. Train your children to do the same. Man has an intangible inner vacuum which responds to LOVE. Love is an experience. What your child sees of God in you is what he is going to understand about God. When your child experiences LOVE from YOU (father and/or mother) he experiences the presence of God.

We have shared some marvelous insights that were developed through raising our four great children. We didn’t always, hit the ball out of the park, but by God’s grace our daughter Debbie Sheridan Krebs is home with Jesus. Our son Clayt, III, and two daughters  Dawn Kollar, Darla Young are each ordained AG ministers serving in three great churches.

Talk about A HAPPY FATHER’S DAY - I’M HAVING ONE!
